NASHVILLE
ASSOCIATION OF TALENT DIRECTORS ANNOUNCES AWARD PRESENTATIONS
(Nashville) The Nashville Association of Talent Directors has announced recipients of the organization's 2001 'Talent Director Of The Year,' and the coveted 'Hubert Long Award.' The presentations were made at NATD annual awards breakfast, hosted for the International Entertainment Buyers Association, and held at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.
NATD's 'Talent Director Of The Year' was awarded to Essig's fellow CAA agent, Stan Barnett, who took the stage to receive his plaque from Trick Pony members Heidi Newfield and Ira Dean, who said of Barnett, "Stan is the real deal - more than just an agent, he's our friend." Presentation of the Billy Deaton Scholarship Award was made by veteran agent Deaton himself to Belmont College senior Rebekah Thornton of Franklin, Tennessee, who received a five hundred dollar check for her continued education as a music industry major. The audience of the combined membership of NATD and IEBA were entertained new artist RanCie, vocal quartet The Coats, and platinum selling duo, The Bellamy Brothers, whose twenty minute set was the entertainment highlight of the event. According to Ed Bazel, President of the Nashville Association of Talent Directors, this year's breakfast, for the first time staged at the Wildhorse location, was an attendance high for the annual event. "We always look forward to hosting IEBA during their annual Nashville conference. This year's climate with the entertainment industry and the nation as a whole gave all of us a feeling of renewed brotherhood between our organizations, at a time when we really need this kind of unity," commented Bazel. |
